I work primarily as an academic in the Yorkshire Centre for Health Informatics at the University of Leeds where I have been involved in a number of research and consultancy projects. These include:
- 2011 March to 2011 April - Working on a National Cancer Survivorship Initiative project for Macmillan developing an output-based specification for a national touch screen oncology system.
- 2009 October to Present - Working with Leeds City Council on their Infostore project, and helping them set up and manage a Facebook presence for older people in Leeds.
- 2009 January to 2010 March - Several projects for the UK Faculty of Health Informatics including “Overcoming Barriers to the use of Patient Data for Research and Development Between the National Health Service and Higher Education”, “Embedding Informatics into Clinical Education”, and ”Data Standards and Terminologies: Who Cares?”. These were supported by collaborations with Microsoft CUI, NHS Scotland, our Academic Unit of Primary Care, TPP, the Professional Association of Clinical Coders UK, PRIMIS+, and Informing Healthcare.
- 2008 September to 2009 December - A joint-funded project from the Wellcome Trust, MRC, ESRC, and EPSRC looking at the training and development of academics and NHS IT staff to exploit clinical data for research. I co-ordinated two two-day workshops (slides are all open-sourced) with colleagues from the University of East Anglia, our School of Geography, our School of Computing, HL7 UK, Connecting for Health, Tribal Consulting, Sapior, and UK Biobank.
- 2008 July to 2008 August - Writing two white papers for the White Rose Health Innovation Partnership on “E-Health” and “E-Mental Health”.
